ABS Master / Ultimate Burglary Guarantee
ABS High-Security Euro Cylinders (Master, and Ultimate) meet the rigorous requirements of the British Kitemark, TS007 3*, and Sold Secure Diamond testing criteria. They also hold the Secured by Design accreditation—the official Police Crime Prevention Initiative.
How the Protection Works
The ABS Series (Master, and Ultimate) is engineered with a sacrificial outer section designed to combat "lock snapping." In the event of an attack, the cylinder is designed to break away at a specific point, which immediately triggers our Active Snap Protection technology. This fires an internal locking mechanism that completely blocks access to the inner workings of the door bolt.
IMPORTANT NOTE ON LOCKSMITH COSTS:
As this is a security feature, a snapped lock that has successfully prevented entry has performed its intended function. The homeowner is responsible for the subsequent replacement of the cylinder and any associated locksmith charges following a thwarted attack. The Avocet Hardware Group Ltd will not be liable for repair costs, replacement products, or call-out fees where the lock has successfully prevented an intruder from gaining access.
The Burglary Guarantee
In the event that a burglar successfully gains access to your property by snapping an ABS cylinder, Avocet will indemnify the homeowner for proven uninsured losses up to a maximum value of £2,000. This guarantee is intended to reimburse the homeowner for the value of stolen property or insurance excesses that are not recoverable through a standard home insurance policy.
Conditions of the Security Guarantee:
- Registration: To validate this guarantee, the homeowner must complete the online registration within 28 days of installation. The burglary must occur after the date of registration.
- Method of Entry: Entry must have been achieved solely by a lock-snapping attack on the registered ABS lock. This guarantee does not cover forced entry via picking, drilling, door-panel manipulation, or any other part of the door/window. No payout is due if the lock successfully prevented entry.
- Proof of Financial Loss: To make a claim, the homeowner must provide documented evidence of their uninsured loss. This must include: A formal letter from the home insurance company confirming the policy excess amount deducted from their payout. A list of stolen items and their values as submitted to the Police and Insurance company. Confirmation from the insurer of any specific items or losses that were not covered by the policy.
- Deadlocking Requirement: The ABS cylinder must be fully deadlocked (key turned to the locked position) using only genuine key blanks. The guarantee is void if the keys are left in the internal side of the cylinder.
- Correct Installation (Handing): Cylinders must be installed with the face marked ‘EXT’ facing the external side of the door.
- Approved Fitting & Proof of Purchase: The product must have been fitted by an approved door fabricator or a professional installer. A valid invoice or receipt showing the date of supply and purchase confirmation may be requested to validate the claim. This is to ensure the product was purchased as new and to confirm it has not been subject to previous unknown use, unauthorised key duplication, or improper service care.
- Maintenance: The cylinder must be maintained at 6-month intervals using ABS Graphite Powder for ABS Ultimate or ABS Lock Lube for ABS Master and ABS ATK+. The use of WD40, 3-in-1 oil, or other solvent-based lubricants will void this guarantee.
- Claim Notification: All claims must be submitted on the online claim form at www.abs-secure.co.uk/pages/burglary-claim-form within 14 days of the break-in. The claim MUST include a valid Crime Reference Number provided by the Police Authority.
- Technical Inspection: The ABS cylinder must be returned to Avocet for technical inspection, accompanied by photographic evidence of the lock snapped within the door at the scene. An Avocet Technical Representative will conduct a detailed investigation within 28 days of receipt. All items requested on the online claim form must be returned to: Technical Manager, The Avocet Hardware Group Ltd, Brookfoot Mills, Elland Road, Brighouse, HD6 2RW.
- Amendments: The Avocet Hardware Group Ltd reserves the right to amend or withdraw these terms and conditions at any time. Registrations are governed by the terms in place at the time of the customer's registration.
