To prolong the life of ABS Master and ATK+ cylinders, we recommend that they are maintained using ABS Lock Lube.
Cylinder Maintenance
1). To apply ABS Lock Lube, direct the applicator into the keyhole, and spray for 1-2 seconds. (If the cylinder has not been maintained for a while, or is contaminated with dirt/debris, remove the debris before applying the ABS Lock Lube).
2). Insert the key and rotate it in accordance with regular usage, as governed by the lock functionality – this could be a full 360° rotation, or part rotation.
It may be necessary to repeat the process more than once the if the cylinder is heavily contaminated. Wipe any spillage with a dry cloth.
Cylinders should be lubricated every 6 months. For locations which are exposed to the elements, lubrication should occur every 3 months. For applications where usage is heavy, we recommend monthly maintenance.
To clean the face of the cylinder, use a soft cloth and a mild soap solution. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
Key Maintenance
ABS Lock Lube is recommended to clean keys. Dirt can build up in the ‘dimples’ within the key blade (the part which slides into the cylinder), which could transfer to the cylinder. To clean keys, spray ABS Lock Lube for 1-2 seconds onto the ‘dimples’ on each side of the key, and clean with a dry lint-free cloth. It may be necessary to repeat the process more than once the if the key is heavily contaminated.
Do not use abrasive materials or wire brushes to clean keys as these can cause irreparable damage to keys.
Note: Lubricants like ‘3in1’ and WD40 should not be used with these cylinders.
